**Supported Devices**

**Root Access Optional**
Oxygen Updater works perfectly without root access. However, granting root access unlocks additional features:
* "Become a contributor" feature: Allows you to submit OTA URLs captured from your device (opt-in).
* Improved update method recommendations: Receive more accurate recommendations for full vs. incremental updates.

To update a rooted device while maintaining root, follow these steps:
1. Install the update via “local upgrade” as usual, but *DO NOT* reboot.
2. Open Magisk and select the “flash to inactive slot” option.
3. Reboot your device.

**Update Tracks & Package Types**
*Tracks:*
* Stable (default): Designed for daily use with the highest level of stability.
* Open Beta (opt-in): Allows you to experience new features early, but may contain bugs.
* Developer Preview (opt-in, if available for your device): Intended for developers and enthusiasts, and may be unstable.

Switching between different tracks may require enabling “advanced mode” in the app’s settings.

*Package types:*
* Incremental (default): Smaller in size, designed for updating from a specific source version to a target version (e.g., 1.2.3 → 1.2.6). Incompatible with rooted devices due to standard Android behavior. The app automatically falls back to a full update if an incremental update is not available.
* Full: Contains the entire operating system and is larger in size. Required for switching between different tracks, upgrading to a new major Android version (e.g., 11 → 12), or updating rooted devices. Incremental updates are recommended in all other cases.
