The Description of IpSensorMan
Site Editorial Commentary:ANT+ certified utility app allowing multiple other apps to access ANT+ sensors.
IpSensorMan expertly manages communication with various sporting sensors using ANT+™, Bluetooth®, or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) interfaces. By employing a separate app, it enables multiple client applications to simultaneously access these sensors. This innovative approach streamlines the development process for client apps by handling the complexities of interacting with standard sensors.The application broadcasts simplified sensor data to any registered application requesting access.
This product is ANT+ certified and compliant with specified ANT+ device profiles, including:
* bicycle speed data
* Bicycle cadence data
* Bicycle combined speed and cadence data
* Bicycle power data
* Heart rate data
The following features are supported but are undergoing certification:
* Stride Based Speed and Distance (footpod)
* Environment (Garmin Tempe)
* running dynamics
* Bike Radar
* fitness equipment control (FEC). Trainer control.
* Shifting
* Suspension
* Dropper post
* Remote control
* Muscle Oxygen
* Bike Light
Polar Wearlink®+ transmitter with Bluetooth® and Zephyr HxM BlueTooth Heart rate monitor support were added with version 1.2.6.
Bluetooth Low Energy / Bluetooth Smart support is available for:
* Heart rate
* Bike speed and cadence
* Bike power (single sensor support, not independent dual pedals)
* Running speed and cadence (footpod)
* Stryd running power.
IpSensorMan is designed to recognize other ANT+ sensor types, although full decoding support may not be implemented for all.
Currently, the applications utilizing IpSensorMan include:
* IpBike: An ANT+ sensor-based bike computer. [https://market.android.com/details?id=com.iforpowell.android.ipbike]
* IpPeloton: An app providing details from ANT+ heart rate monitors and power sensors, allowing users to compare their effort with fellow riders. [https://market.android.com/details?id=com.iforpowell.android.ippeloton]
* IpWatts: An application designed to log data from multiple power sensors simultaneously with a single timebase, along with speed, cadence, and heart rate. Ideal for comparing power meters. [https://market.android.com/details?id=com.iforpowell.android.ipwatts]
Additional applications may be added in the future.

Permission details:
* Network communications (full Internet access): Used for crash reporting and usage statistics collection via flurry.com. This data helps us understand which phones and ANT+ sensors are being used. This feature can be disabled in the options.
* Hardware controls (ANT radio access): Essential for ANT+ sensor communication.
* System tools (modify global system settings, prevent phone from sleeping): Allows keeping ANT active in airplane mode (requires ANT Radio Services version 2.6+). When actively monitoring the ANT radio, the phone will not sleep, although the screen may turn off.
* Bluetooth: Enables support for Bluetooth Heart rate monitors.
* Location: Required to access Bluetooth low energy sensors, as these sensors could theoretically be used to determine location via beacons. note: IpSensorMan does not currently support beacon functionality.

What's New
Update to SDK 30. Update crash reporting system backend. Added in first guess at Tyre pressure sensor. No Spec so reverse engineering. Tweaks for Android 11 Sort out issues with log file writing for some sensor types. Allow retrying when trying to switch light off at shutdown. Update to force ANT type for mixed style BTLE sensors every time they start up. Needed to get adding Speed or Cadence only to IpBike correctly.
